Historical Notes

Duke Henry Kimbrough, in the book "Descendents of Robert Cooke and Sarah Fielding" by Robert Kimbrough, p. 11 says that he had 11 children by his first wife, Mary Elizabeth Cooke. In July of 1861, with his brother Robert F., bought from their father 130 acres on the Conasauga River, part of the Starr tract. He was a farmer and retail merchant in Athens, Tenn. After marrying his second wife, Alice B. Cobb, they had six children, but by the time of the census, they had only two children living (possibly an error in the census, RBK).
