Historical Notes

Allen became one of Cattletsburg's most influential businessmen. He was a store owner and owned and operated a wharf boat on the river front. Bob Kennedy in River Front Roundup columns has listed items from A. P.'s Wharf Register on some of the movement of goods by A. P. to steamboats and push boats for movement up the Big Sandy river, especially supplies to the town of Peach Orchard.
