Henry I de erChâtillon, born around 1080 and died around 1130, was lord of Châtillon and Montjay at the beginning of the 12th ecentury. He was the son of Gaucher I of Châtillon and Mahaut of Leuven. He became lord of Châtillon around 1101 on the death of his father Gaucher I of Châtillon in the Holy Land during the first crusade. He was part of the entourage of the Count of Champagne Thibaut II and appeared in several of his actions. Around 1117, he married Ermengarde de Montjay, daughter and heiress of Auberry de Montjay, and became lord of Montjay on the death of his father-in-law. He donated the church of Châtillon to Eudes, abbot of Marmoutier, who founded a priory of his order by the name of Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Saint-Martin. He is also one of the benefactors of the abbey of Igny. At his death, he was replaced as lord of Châtillon by his eldest son Gaucher II.
