He was mentioned in the land records of St. Paul's Parish of Hanover County, Virginia, as early as 1727, although he was apparently still a resident of Henrico County until at least 1734. In 1763, the processioners of Hanover made mention of "Vinckler Cobbs orphans".
This based on the fact that being named a co-Executor of his father's Will, he had already reached his majority by 1727.
